Gray Budgerigar

Gray budgerigars are a variant of the blue variety. They come in light, mid- and dark gray color forms. The White budgerigar is an albino gray bird with red eyes, although the feathers may show a faint blue tinge.

Budgerigars feel most secure if the cage is positioned high up (at about eye-level), against a wall, not in the middle of a room. Place the cage in a bright place that is not in direct sunlight or a draft. Do not place in a kitchen, or in a room used by smokers.

Every day, give a small amount of fresh green food and fruit. Try pieces of lettuce, spinach, wild plants such as dandelion, chickweed and groundsel, apple, carrot and orange.

A nestbox will stimulate a pair to breed. Provide a nestbox that is 10.25 by 6.75 by 8 inches, with a 2-inch hole and a shallow depression in the floor. Budgerigars do not use any nesting material. The hen lays an egg per day for 5 or 6 days, and incubates them for 18 days.
