Hello, I'm new here, I just got a new female thoroughbred, she's so beautiful and I got her as a gift from my dear husband, but she has this swollen left knee, he got her from someone who told us that he's not exactly sure why she has a swollen knee, but she's fine, she eats well, drinks well, and she walks with no problem. What is it, does anybody here know, we'll ask the vet to come (although the guy who had her already made her checked), but still curious maybe someone here knows or had exprerienced the same thing, she's only 1 year old.

Hi!! :wavey: Welcome to the forum! :)
If she's showing no signs of lameness, it sounds like she might have damaged her knee at some point, either by puncturing it, or through some trauma, and now has chronic swelling in the area of the joint. It could be from one of several areas (carpal joint, skin under carpus, etc.) but if it is this, it is only unsightly and usually will not cause any lameness after the initial injury. It can sometimes be treated through draining the fluids and steroid injections to the joint, but if she's not lame there's no need, and these treatments are not always effective anyways.
Do you know if she has always had it, though? If she has had it right from birth, it may be something different, such as a limb deviation from her position in the womb.
It's good to get a vet to check it out! He or she can determine exactly what the cause is, and tell you if there's any need for treatment.
However, if she's not lame, I think that it's very likely that your horse will be just fine, albeit with a funny-looking knee! Let us know what the vet says when he or she does check her out, I'll be really interested to know.
And congratulations on the new horse! I have a Thoroughbred as well, and I love the breed.

No, she's not lame and she seems to walk normal, the guy who used to own her told us it is not from birth but she had it for long time now, we still have to discuss all further details about it with him, he gave her to us cuz he is so busy and he's probably going abroad to work. So we didn't had the time to sit and talk alot. All we know is that her bloodline is pretty strong and she's bred to compete in the race. Surgery is quite expensive for that guy to afford and he's not even sure if it's worth it. So he decided to leave it like that. It doesn't really bother me. I love her already as she is.
Thanks by the way for the welcome, bunnyinthehouse. :cheer:
