Small animal heat mat

Hi all. Anybody ever use a T-Rex "cozy comforts small animal heat mat" to warm their hammy's cage? It says its plastic and metal cage safe and is made for hamsters and rats etc. It goes under the cage or on the outside wall and keeps a constant mild heat that supposedly very controlled and safe.

Hi Karen,

I've not heard of a T-Rex cozy heater before but as with any heating element.

Do check that it's approved and if you're using a cage not to put the pad where dini can get at it. Putting the pad at the bottom is not advisable too, try walking on hot concrete. The best place would be at the side, where its out of reach of the hamster yet still heats up the cage.

If possible, do get hold of "Hamsters: A Complete Guide" by Jimmy McKay. He goes at length in explaining how to create a hamster cage with heating. If i can get hold of the book, i'll summarise it for u soon. I hope.
