Hello,

Today, i realised that my hamster has a bald line on her head. The line is so obvious and from it i can tell that she has been trying to escape her cage the whole night. Because she would usually put her head at the wires of the cage and start biting and pushing. I think she must have forced her head really hard on the wire this time. Stupid girl.

I think i need to find and buy more toys for her and keep her occupied.

Ok, is there anyway to help her fur on her head grow back faster?

Hi Susany,

This is what they call nagging. The hamster will chew the wires non-stop (like nagging), and pushing her head against the wires causes the balding.

Solutions:
1) More toys, seldom work if u have a persistent nagger.

2) Spray bitter lime on the cage wires. Bitter lime is sold in Pet Lovers Centre, Singapore.

3) Switch to plastic tank housing for San.

All these solutions are old hat and have been circulated around the hamster mailing list for some time already. By far, the best solution is a plastic tank.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Thank you. Oh, i didn't know that biting and pushing their heads at wires are called "naggers". Thanks for enlightening me. I do hope San isn't a persistant "nagger".

I think you and Yinx are really good hamsters experts.

Buying her more toys is going to burn a hole in my pocket again. Recently i bought the ball-wheel for San, which Yinx suggested it, is pretty good for slimming. San loves the wheel, but i only let her run for about 5 minutes. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

By the way, is there anything which i can purchase or let her eat to make her fur grow back at a more rapid rate?

Thank you once again.

p/s: Never mind if those info are "old hat", because i am a "new hat". I really appreciate those information. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif
