did you seperate teh mom and the babies?
if the mom is killing the babies then you are making her nervous or she fells threatend or the babies are sick.
you seperate the babies from thier mom when they are 3-4 weeks. old. NO EALIER!!!!

Hello Erick,
It is not advisable to separate babies and mother. Please put the cage in a place where not much walking is around. Just like sharon17 has mentioned, the mother must have felt threatened or the babies are sick.
Now, what you should do is put your hamsters (mother and babies) in a quiet place and put lots of food inside. Don't bother or disturb or peep into the cage. Don't clear the beddings yet too. Just be patient and your babies hamsters will be fine. If the mother hamster is not provoked, everything should be fine.
I had a new addition of my hamster family. 4 babies. I put the cage in the store-room and/or under a table to let the hamster not feel threatened. And constantly throw in food and refill water for her.
Now, the babies are big. All are fine and healthy.
Hope to hear from you soon. Keep us updated.

does a mom hamster eat babies when they are a live or dead
beecause my hamster ate one of them but what happened was she had her babies in this kind of box thing in her cage that is on the top of the cage and there is a tube going down to the main cage but where she was, was to small and th box thing can be taken out and that so i toke it out and put it in a bigger cage and then i opened the top and i just did that did not putmyhand on her or anything but then she was look around getting food i had pt in the cage and was putting it in the nest and that and then i was sitting there and that andmymom came down and as soon as my mom was looking in it went and ate one. we both just moved out of the room and all....do you think that she just ate it because it was dead because it only ate one becasue i think she might have walked on it or something becuase of how small the cage was where she had them. she could not even get food and had no water so that is why i moved her because if anything i dont want to losse the babies beecause it get to hot or the mom does not have food and most of all i did not want to have anything happen to my baby(mom hamster) so do you think she will be ok if i leave her in my room (i am not in it unless i amsleeping) with like a sheet over it and that. will she be fine and not kill anymore..sorry i am just scared becuasse i have never had a hamster eat a baby and i dont want to have that happen to anymore. so if i leave forlike 2 weeks wih the sheet over andonly going in to put food in that it will be ok ????? hurry can you help.... email me at baby_gurl369_69@hotmail.com

Don't bring up a five year old thread to ask your question. Start your own thread, make sure you punctuation and proper capitalization (and paragraphs, even if they are totally chunked into paragraphs quite right, it is much easier to read five short paragraphs then one huge one. You don't loose your place as easy and what not.)
