Hello,

Just thought that we share our history on why we got the names for our hamsters.

My hamster is named "San aka Sue". Named her that is because, my name is Susan. So i just extracted the last 3 letters - San. For Sue, i just call her that at the conveniences of my tongue. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, it was a little rush when i named her, because i adopted/found her abandoned at a corridor, very very thin. At that moment, i wanted to give her a name, rather than calling her "hamster, hamster". LOL. So, i give her a name "San".

Now she is very mischeivous, making a bald line in her head yesterday.

So how about everyone else? What prompted you to give your hamsters the names they've got? Please share...

I think it's nice if you name your hamsters

Easter
Ester
SterSter

I like names that ends with "sters" for my hamsters.

Hello!

I named my hamster, just like what you did to yours. But i took the first 3 letters from the word "Hamster"!

I just call her "HamHam". But she doesn't really response to her name. Do San response to you when you call her? In fact, do hamsters response when being called? http://petshub.com/ubb/confused.gif

gnome, thanks for sharing the names you have stated. I really think that those names are pretty neat. I think i will need one more name to name my 4 babies. Do you have one more recommended name?

Susan, you started this topic at the right time for me. I have got 4 new babies and is on the process of naming them. You have any recommended ones too?

Hamster lovers, any recommended/suggested names too?

I used to have a hamster almost four years ago till her passing away.
My boyfriend and I went to this pet store that was going out of business and everyone was buying all of these hamsters like they were going out of style, I have always wanted one too.
Well there was only one left in the cage and it didn't look to healthy because one of the eyes were closed and I thought it had health problems, so my boyfriend made me take her home anyways.
Come to find out she was blind in that eye, that's why she kept her right eye closed.
We ended up naming her WINKIE because of her eye.
I miss her so much, when we talk about her I still cry, I used to work third shift and when I came home in the morning she would be waiting for me and jumping up and down, saying "momma please come and pick me up". Winkie would even give me kisses.
Well now I have four ferrets and going to be adopting another tomorrow afternoon.

Hi. I have two male syrian hamsters. They are now about one year old. I named one Hyper cause he is very very fast and is always on the move. I'm sorry to say that I named the other one Baz which is short for another word which ends in 'tard' cause he was always biting me for no reason! He's outgrown it now thank goodness. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

my hammies name is Bubblegum and the only reason i named her that is because she just kinda looks like a Bubblegum. My little sister calls her Bubbagum. One of my dogs just stares at her when i put her in her ball! It's real cute. They just stare at each other in silence!

my 1st hamster was "buddy" and I dunno why, i think my dad named him after some famous person..(its a shortened for some long name) my 2nd hamster was "stinky", I didnt name her though, I adopted that hammy from these people who didnt want her cause she smelled(DUH!! dont u know what cleaning the cage more often means?) lol, my 3rd and my fav. one was "Shusty" I dont even know why I named him that, i think its the sound he made, when he ran" sheeee-wheeee!!!" and my last 2 hammies "Rocky"(as in Rocky&bullwinkle) cause he was all grey like that squirel and other one was "Tiny Tim" cause he was soooo little!!:agree: :angel2:

Well, before I got my hamster, I had been planning on getting a male hamster, so I had thought up all these neat male hamster names, but then I ended up getting a female, so she went without a name for about 3 days. I ended up picking a name based on her color. I also wanted it to be a bit goofy and wordy, sort of like a pedigree dog, so I named her, Lady Cedar, Queen of Hamsters. I actually call her "Little one" or "Young Lady" more often then Cedar, but hey, you gotta have a real name for your pets, right? :)

I had planned to name my hamster Amelia ( I was getting a girl one was all I knew) and my mom had even painted her name on her Christmas stocking 'Amelia'. Then when we went to pick her out four days before Christmas, there was this sweet little Cream Satin with grey ears just a couple months old and I fell in love. It's quite a drive to the petshop from my house, and we had gotten a drink on the way- I got my usual cream soda. When we got back in the car, I noticed that the hamster was the same color as the cream soda, and since that is my favorite thing to drink it all fell together. I call her CS for short sometimes.

And oh, yeah- that night, my mom painted Cream Soda's name on the back of the stocking. It was a funny story becuase everyone kept asking (after they got over asking what in the world were the fish getting for Christmas) why her stocking was the only one going left instead of right.

I guess that's the last time I make up my ind about a name before I meet the pet! But Amelia was supposed to be a quiet little hamster and CS is very sweet, but she is anything BUT quiet!

I have 2 winter whites called Humvee and Dale. Humvee cos he just runs over everything and anything including me:argue:
Dale was named after after the first night i got them both cos Humvee was dominating Dale and even bit him so hard Dale bled :( After I separated them, I decided to name Dale his name like from the Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers cartoon cos Chip kicks the butt of Dale everytime he does something silly :p

My first hammie was named Ling Ling, she was a Syrian with panda markings, so I named her after the female panda that's at the zoo in Washington, D.C.
Cookie is named Cookie because he is the color of a sugar cookie.
Hung Hung (unless you are my boyfriend Hung Lou; pronounced low). Hung Hung is a white and cream long haired Syrian with panda markings, Hung Meow means panda bear in Chinese.

I used to have 2 winterwhite pearls. Snowbell is named after the movie Stuart Little. The hammie is called Snow White becoz of its fur. Though they are not around anymore, I will always remember them. :)
