someone define 'teddy bear' please??

OK - I thought a teddy bear hamster was a hamster that was of blk + white variety + short velvety hair...
Just read another post and it seems they can have long hair and can be white????

I have a white/blonde hammie which has longer than usual hair.... is he a teddy bear???

I am confused!!!

Can teddy bear hamsters be all colours???

Or is just the syrian hamster name also known as teddy bear!!!????

A friend (who I think is a very reliable source of info on animals since he really knows a lot...) told me that it depended on the type of hair. I showed him the picture of my last syrian, Frank, who was sold to me as an angora and he told me that he looked like a teddy bear... angoras are the ones that have really long hair. Here is the picture:

The term "Teddy Bear" is just a nickname to describe a "long haired" hamster. Any Syrian with long hair can be referred to as a "Teddy Bear".

I have a golden syrian. I've seen a couple teddy bears but they were both blonde/white i've never seen dark teddy bear hamsters. But jostring yours might be a black bear if its black. I was going to get black bear but i chose golden instead.=^.^=

A teddy bear hamster is simply a long haired syrian

Looks to me like Indy is a teddy bear ham and Halo is a regular Syrian.

A dwarf can't be a teddy bear hamster. A teddy bear is just a syrian with longer hair. It tends to kind of drag when they walk, and they look really fluffy.

They can also be any color- I had one who was cream and white, my friend had one who was brown and white, and now I have a black and white one.

Padfoot- Such a cutie!! Looks very similar to my deceased Snickers!
