Hello,

I am confused. As some of you know that i adopted San as she was abandoned, and i do not know how old she is.

Recently, she is rather agressive and bites my finger. She will pounce on my hand and bites me. She has this "very lost" face lately. Not too sure if that is a face of aging? Also she seem to knit her eye brow. Not that i am sensitive, but her eyes seems like knitted. Is this a sign of age too?

She is rather agressive and bites my hand even though i give her food, which she usually don't.

Also, when she eats her food, she will usually sit on her rump. Lately, when i see her eating, she sits on her rump eating and will fall on her back if sitted for too long. She seems quite clumsy.

Are all these signs of aging? Please help.

Hi Susany,

Sorry to hear about San being that way. It could be either signs of aging or being sick. Remember how grouchy u were when u're really sick. That could be a reason.

How long have u had San? Normally, i find that old male hamsters have discoloured testes and exposed scent glands (located at the sides of the hips). Other signs of growing old are unkempt look, lightening of fur if San is a dark coloured animal, and slight balding.

The other possible reason is lack of sleep, is there any major renovation work going on at your place. If there is that's the reason. It's best that she gets plenty of rest, since hamsters with little sleep will die from stress shortly. Give me more details and we see what we can do.
