Hi Amanda,

First off, eating shit is all right. The actual term is cecophagy. Hamsters eat their own poo to reabsorb certain nutrients from their poo. Do u have a water bottle in the cage? They don't drink their urine.

It doesn't make sense, they cannot be one month old unless they were with their parents when u bought them. It's more like 7-8 weeks since they are weaned about 21 days old.

What type of hamsters are they? If they're syrians, u have to separate them if they fight. Right, try to go to some website to learn more about hamsters and then join a mailing list for more info. 2 hamster mailing list i'm on is :

Dear zz, thanks for replying but I do have a water bottle in the cage. it was like there was a puddle of yellowish "urine" in the plastic house which has no saw dust & my hamster(russian campbell)just licked it off and another thing is i adopted my hamsters from my friend & my friend told me that my female hamster, tiny was really tiny when she was born & now she's already one month going to be two her fur is not fully grown yet, will she be alright???

Hi Amanda,

I think Tiny is a runt. I have a winter white hamster (Piglet) which is really tiny too, but is otherwise in the pink of health. The only problem with Piglet's small size is that I have to crack open the sunflower/pumpkin seeds for her.

P/S : Tho' Piglet is already 4mths old, she still looks like a 1mth old hamster!

Hi Amanda, I am just browsing through questions and answers and came across what you said about opening up the sunflower seeds. I found this very sweet, good for you.
