i got three new hamsters :D
all dwarfs, i have only named one and its name is gizmo, i put them in my crittertrail 2 and bought a critter trail x for my hamster so yeah, they are so cute!

only bad thing is:
i bought one from one store because it was the last one

then i bought two from another store but they were in seperate cages

..so what that means is that they are all new to each other, hopefully they will become friends

another bad thing is...i dont know what sex they are, so im going to have babies wooo

You say "wooo" now, but you had better watch out, they breed like crazy

I hope you have extra cages in case intros don't work out. Depending on their age and personality, this can be extremely tough or quite easy.

As for sexing, please don't put them together if you don't know what sex they are. It would be very irresponsible if you just put them together and see what happens.

Check this site out for sexing them: http://www.petwebsite.com/sexing.htm
I realize dwarfs are trickier than syrians, but it might be able to give you some idea.

Thank you! Honestly, a few months ago I would have NEVER been able to say that! My knowledge on hamsters and such was a bit low, I knew basic care and all, but that was about it. :)

Yes, please don't put them together if you don't know what sex they are. Plus if it dosen't work out you need to but two more cages. I had to do that when my mice didn't get along.

Females are also a lot smaller then males. But don't go just by that.

Are you ready to care for ALL the babies, and then sex and separate them as they get older so they don't also start breeding wooo??

yes im fully aware that they will have kids, i am fully aware that they might not get along, its all good, my enthusiasm for getting new hamsters made me seem like i was just saying woo for whatever, thts not the case, im looking forward to breeding them.
thats why i didnt care what the sex was while buying them, if i got a male, hey thats cool, i get to breed them, plus the guy at the pet store told me he would take any babies i had.

If they do mate, how many litters will you let them have. They can have another litter about every month. Thats alot of babies! If they pet store won't take them who will? Maybe you need to think about this a little more before.

Always use the "split screen method" any time you introduce unrelated dwarf hamsters. The following I wrote for my site and will tell you why and how you should use the "split screen method" in introducing unrelated dwarf hamsters .....

"Even though dwarf hamsters are "social" by nature and appear to function best in pairs or colonies when it comes to introducing "unrelated" dwarf hamsters always "proceed with extreme caution". The risk is always high that the dwarf hamsters won't tolerate each other and this can lead to the mutilation and/or death of one or both of the dwarf hamsters. Any time you plan to introduce dwarf hamsters use the "split screen method". Use a tank (10 gallon or more) and separate it down the middle with a mesh screen divider and allow for 2 separate living quarters for each hamster. Keep them like this for at least a week and in this time it will allow them to get used to each other's scent and hopefully this will go a long way in them tolerating each other once you remove the mesh screen divider. Once you remove the mesh screen divider observe the dwarf hamsters real close and watch for any fighting that leads to biting and blood. And yeah you can expect the typical "squabbles" (the on again off again battle for the dominant postion in the tank/cage" but normal "squabbles" rarely lead to injury. If you see aggressive behavior as I previously stated that leads to biting and blood then you gotta "separate" them "immediately" and keep them "separated". Even though dwarf hamsters prefer the company of other dwarf hamsters they can still do good living a solitary life. In the past I had to separate a few of my "Camps" and they all adjusted to life on their own. Always keep in mind that dwarf hamsters have a greater shot at a successful living arrangement if they are "same sex littermates". And of course if you plan to breed you want an pair of "unrelated" dwarf hamsters with "known" genetic histories."
