I have a 16 year old cat.. she's lovely and still looks very young but I think age is catching up with her.
She keeps peeing around the house, even tho she uses her litter tray regularly and I keep it clean. She wil ignore the tray and use the living room carpet or a bedroom instead. She doesn't go out often I think because we moved about 3yrs ago and there are quite a few cats in the area. which she doesn't like - she's not very sociable.
I only have a smallish house and with two children I obviously can't have her using the rest of the house as a toilet. I've had her since she was a kitten and it would be awful if I had to have her put down but if I can't find a solution to this I will have no choice.
Please does anyone have any advice?

Cat's don't usually just "go" in places other than their littler boxes for no reason.
Is she in any discomfort or crying when she is urinating? If so, she must see a Vet and make sure she doesn’t have a Urinary Tract infection, these are common and treatable with medication.
Second, is her littler box cleaned out every day? Cats are picky, and hate a dirty box.
Third, use a product like Natures Miracle to get rid of the stains, BUT most importantly it will get rid of the odor, and that way the cat won't smell it there and will stop going in the same spot.
Good Luck!

I agree with what the other have told you.
My Dad's senior dog started peeing everywhere and it was due to a urinary infection. She's all better now.
Is your cat able to walk around easily? Maybe the litter box is in an inconveniant spot for her to get to all day. Have you tried using more than one litter box?
You should feel abit lucky though, my 18 year old cat has started peeing down the heat vents at my Dad's place. I had to laugh at that though, he never liked my cat and I think it's her own little way of getting back at him.
She's gotten really bratty in her old age, and has started doing lots of things out of character for her, last Christmas we found her on the counter eating the turkey lol, which was an amaze feat for her because she is pretty arthritic now.

Thank you all for your advice, I will get the vet to have a look at her and maybe invest in a second litter tray.
I'll also try this Natures Miracle and see if that makes a difference, the smell is rather strong at times as you can imagine!
Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens.
