Has anyone noticed that males or females are easier to tame... or have any personality differences due to gender?
Just a thought!
Thanks!

just out of my own experience, I find males more docile and content to be handled. females tend to want to be running around more. But females can be tamed easily too. :)

I've always had males and they have all been very tame and well mannered. I just got a female a month ago ad I think she is the best hamster I've ever had. She loves the kids and takes food out of their fingers all ther time. I've been told though that females can be crakier because they go into heat every few days... can't remember how many days. Anyway I haven't seen that in this one yet. She is always in a good mood it seems.

I think males are more trusting of people and relax more, while females want to run around. At school, my science teacher has a male hamster. When I held it for the first time, he sat there and started grooming. Other males that I have owned did the same thing and they would also fall asleep on me. But my female? Oh no. She fell asleep on me twice, but she usually runs around.
I believe females go into heat every 4-5 days. I actually like that time, because even though the smell she gives off is pretty gross, she is calm when I hold her. She just sits on my hand as I pet her. But both genders are easily tamed.
