Hi. My name is Jennifer and my pot belly pig is Chaplin. He is seven months old and the sweetest, smartest pet you could want. He knows how to sit, shake, and lay down. His favorite activity is to snuggle on my lap. Having a pot belly pig is a lot of work as they require A TON of attention, love, and patience, but for us it is completely worth it. I want to include some pictures but can't figure out how to. Could someone please tell me how to do that? Thank you!

[FONT=Verdana][FONT=Impact]Sure,no problem. Go to a site like www.smartgroups.com and register for a photo hosting account there (its free, because I have an account there). After you're done uploading your pictures on there, bring the URL to here and post it up. Someone had said something about just putting the image name here in the place where it says img, I'm going to try that . well here goes.
didn't work.....let me try again. im not gunna try again cus I don't think its going to work. If its okay with you, would you mind sharing some stuff about the care of pot bellied pigs? I'm interested to know what kind of care it takes, how you got your PBP, what made you want one, do you have any other ones, do you have any other pets? Sry-lol. I'm just curious. I like reading all about an animal's past.

Chaplin is almost 8 months old. He got him at 5 weeks old. We'd been considering getting a PBP for a couple of years and I had done a lot of research about them. I have terrible allergies to cats and dogs, but have always wanted a pet. We have fish, but they are just not social or snuggly :o We actually found Chaplin in a want ad. His mom had just had a litter (not sure if litter is right word for a group of piglets), so I went and played with them. My allergies were not bothered at all. We went out and purchased everything we needed (a bed, food and water dishes, food, litter box) and went back and got him. He was so scared. I snuggled with him on his bed (a large fleece dog bed) and slept with him on the floor the first night (I'm really not a freak, I was just worried about him). Eventually, he felt comfortable enough to wander around the room on his own. He learned the litter box by the second day (smart piggy!). You have to hold them a lot (even when they squeal) when they're babies so that they learn to accept it. It was only a week before he started crawling onto my lap to snuggle with me. Now he's very affectionate and just loves to be with us. We've trained him with Cheerios to "sit", "shake", and "lay down". He's extremely smart. I adore him! I went to the smartgroups and uploaded the pictures, but couldn't figure out how to get them here (I'm not a genius with the computer).

Well, we're thinking about getting Chaplin a friend ... we'll see ... life just gets so busy sometimes!!! I do love having Chaplin as a part of our family, though.

hi! im new! i dont have a pig yet (damn parents), but its my aim in life to be a vet, buy a small farm just big enought to live on and keep my horses and a pig on! i just love pigs! especially middle whites, they have cool faces. thet look a bit like bats haha. could i just ask which sex is best to keep as a pet? and which breed would be best to keep? my dad said that a pot bellied would be most suitable, but could you please tell me if you disagree. also do pigs have many health problems? thank you for reading.

Hi Emma. I think that it's great that you know what you want to be and do in life. I don't know a lot about other breeds of pigs, but I do love my little pot bellied piggy. I don't live on a farm and Chaplin is very much a house pet, but I have heard of other pot bellies living on farms and doing well. If I had a pig outdoors where I wasn't with him most of the time, I would definitely get 2 of them so that they had each other for company. I have a male pig and I haven't really heard anything about people having a preference or one gender being better to keep than another, but you could probably do more research in that area. As far as health issues, my pig is 9 months old and the only time we've had to see the vet is to have him neutered and we had to have a tooth filed down because it was irritating him.
Do you have any pets now (that your parents allow :) )?
