I had a mom hamster (rainbow) and four babies...(pudge, tiny, spaz, and spunky). Last week Pudge died and I didn't know why. The next day Tiny got really sick and I had to have her put to sleep. They have wet tail. The mom and spunky have been really good, and looks like they don't even have it anymore, but Spaz has been sick and she died today. I have been giving them baytril everyday and even though she was a bit weak, I really thought she was getting better. I got Rainbow from the pet store a little over two months ago and she was pregnant when I got her. I only have one little baby left and I am really praying for her, but she does look real good, so maybe she'll be ok.

I'm sorry for your losses, but I will try and help you keep your other hammy stay alive, You need an eyedropper and some pedialyte. Mix one part pedialyte and one part water, and give this to the hamster every few hours, This is important because you need to keep her hydrated(when giving the mixture to her, do not hold her upside down because you can drown her, and only give her a litte at a time so she won't have trouble swallowing it) I'll say a prayer for her, goodluck

Forgot to say to give it to her in the eye dropper

Yes thank you. I did that with the other one on the days I didn't see her drink anything, but I think she died of the wet tail it's self instead of dehydration. I think the one before her died of dehydration though. (well she was and she was real bad so i had the vet put her to sleep) I had been going on another site as well and they helped me to start with. Although I really hate to say this, I think it could have been the baytril. The vet never said when to stop it but I think five days is what everyone else said. I had been giving it for six days and I think she was getting better, but I wasn't sure. I think it was my fault. The other one is doing great...besides being alone for the first time. She has been running around and stuff. I'm going to stop the meds and just keep close eye on her.

Wet tail causes the hamsters to dehydrate from losing so much water in the diarrhea. I hope your other hammy continues to do well
