How long does it take for a pitbulls ears, after being cropped to be 100% healed and not so sensitive to touch. Mackenzie seems to be very senstive on the ears, but my vet told me to play with them on occasion, so that she gets used to someone touching her ears, so they can be cleaned on a regular basis.

ROZ you seem to have all the great and wonderful advice. Lets hear what you have to say on this topic. LOL

I went looking for how long it takes for ears to heal, but I can't get anything more than the ears don't bother the pup after a couple days and it takes about 3 months or so for the ears to stand up on some breeds. *sigh*

I would guess that the healing process takes a few weeks to a month or so, but I've never had a breed with cropped ears. As for sensativity to touch, your vet was right. If you think the surgery is still bothering her, try rubbing the ear away from where it was cropped, touching it every a few times throughout the day.

My understanding is that it usually takes a couple of weeks for the ears to heal and the sensitivity to go away. When was Mackenzie's ears done?

Approximately 1.5 months ago. When we took her to the vet, the vet said they were ok and not infected or anything. I think she just does not like her ears to be touched. I was told by the vet to play with them anyways to get her used to being touched, so that we can clean her ears on a regular basis. I think she will be ok after a while.

THANKS ROZ

I think so too. I have known lots of dogs that didn't like their ears to be touched, and they had long, floppy, natural ears. So, I think just give her time. Work with her the way your vet recommended.
