I've never dealt with this myself, but she's probably annoyed at having to wear a collar AND the discomfort of her injured tail. Have you discussed this with your vet? If she's disturbing the injured area it could get infected and indeed not heal. Perhaps there are medications that will calm her down a bit. But talk to your vet...yours can't be the first case they've seen! :-)

Hi,

My cat had the same problem! I think it's because it got really itchy and painfull because of the healing process. We also discovered that the bright green tape the vet used to stabilize it attracted her even more!!! My kitty was fine after two to three weeks (I can't remember) but maybe it was because we changed the color of the tape to black (which is her color). I'm sure your kitty will be fine soon and I don't think it's anything to worry about.

You can never repair a cats broken tail, once its broken it will never be the same, the best u can do is make a splint and let it heal as is.. I personally would do a splint on her tail with vet wrap or a color of tape dependant upon her color.

hi,
my cat fell from a tree when she was only about 1 year old. Everytime be stroked her down to her tail she would do a long meow and look at us. It was sort of bent too. We took her to the vet and the vets found taht there was no feeling in the end of it, like the nerves got damaged or something. The vet said that if her tail starts to drag on the ground she would have to get it amputated but that wasnt the case. We let it heal by itself and kept her indoors i think. Its back to normal now. I think it might of had a little fracture but i cant remember.
Hope ur cats tail heals fast!
