Hi everyone - I did a quick search but couldn't find anything here.

We have a two-story house and our two "kids" (Martini & Rossi) sleep upstairs in the bedroom with us.

In case of an emergency, we have an escape ladder under the bed. However, that only helps my wife and I. I am trying to find a harness for the two dogs that we could use to lower them to the ground. My wife would climb down first, then I could lower the dogs, one at a time, to her. I have searched through Google and through Lycos, but can't find anything.

FYI - Martini is a 45lb cross between a Border Collie and Chow Chow, while Rossi is an 11lb Papillon (so I'd need two different sizes).

My two questions are these: has anyone seen such an item and does anyone know where I could find them?

Thanks a lot!

Rob

hmm, this may sound really really stupid, but its an idea. At the top of the stairs, have a bucket and a rope. Tie the rope to the handle of the bucket, (ok this is sort of confusing me), but like, if you've ever seen in those shows, or like in the wishing well, how they have the rope and the bucket, maybe that would work. About teh 45 pounder, you might want to get an emergency slide (just a normal slide that you can prob get at Toys R Us) and keep it somewhere near, so that, incase of emergency, all you have to do is put down the slide. My responses to your post were SOO SOO off, sry. You might want to talk to someone at your local pet store. Good luck!

I would get a padded car harness and a long lead (20 or 30 feet) or so for each of them.

Good idea. I would probably end up altering the padded car harness, to be positive it was secure and comfortable for the dog(s).
