Hi Ronnie. My name is Jenn and I have an 8 month old PBP, Chaplin. He had been doing this weird thing with his tongue, so I had the vet look at him. He has a tooth growing out into his bottom lip, so the vet filed it down. We had to sedate Chaplin first, which I really didn't like, but the vet came to my house to do it. He prefers to care for PBPs in their homes when possible, which I love! He said that if it seemed to continue to irritate Chaplin, he would pull it out. Chaplin never hesitated to eat, though. I think maybe you should call some other vets about your piggie. I've read in many places that you should seek immediate care when PBP's don't want to eat. Good luck. I hope your piggie is okay.

He may be teething, my piggy is almost 2 years, his bottom teeth are quite long. I have a picture of him yawning, where you can see his teeth email me and i'll send it and you can see if it looks like your pigs mouth. May help some.
my email is mypiglikestofu@yahoo.com
Also he sucks his teeth and makes a weird sound too, may be grinding his teeth down, and this is normal, my friends pig does the same thing he is 5 years old. My pig started teething with tusk and at 1 and they poke into his lip but this is normal , they will grow outward withint the year if they are going into the gum then you have a problem. He also lost several teeth at about 8 months old. I would find them in his water pan. He wouldn't eat hard food, so i fed him mashed veggies and soft foods, he gobbled them up. Try that and email me okay.

are they his teeth or tusks? Males will get tusks that need to be filed/cut back regularly. If he is neutered, this will not have to be done very often, but if not, it would have to be done more often. The tusks (that I have seen in pics) are on the bottom and they grow up and outside of the top of his mouth/jaw. Anyway, this probably isn't what you are talking about as I'm sure any vet would know that. Good luck...let us know how he is...Lea
