meds not working

My betta came down with something awhile ago. I say something because I have no idea what it is. He has white spots, almost like his gils are cut underneath them. At first we thought it was fungal, then we thought it was bacterial. I have treated him with Maracyn, betta fix with Melaluca, and some sort of blue liquid that "is known to cause cancer in the state of California". Anybody have this problem with their betta? I love him lots and want him to get better.

I live in NY and around here there was some type of untreatable Asian fungus going around all the local pet stores a while back, and it seems to be resurfacing. There were a number of symptoms with this fungus from white spots, to something like tail rot, to black spots and a few others. Also it could just be the coloring, sometimes fish develop spots on their body when the temperature changes and what not. This happens in gold fish because with them being kept in cold water, the temperature could fluctuate unlike tropical fish who have the heater and a more constant temperature. Is your betta in cold water?

Yea, my betta is in treated tap water. He never had a problem before, and I have tetras with him too and they seem to be okay.

Since Bettas are tropical fish yours may not be warm enough...i've also read on some Betta sites that higher temperature in conjunction with meds can help them get better.
how long has he been sick for?
and is he always being treated with something? maybe you stopped medicating him too early?

so it has been forever now...and he still ahs these spots. I have tried everything!!!! Every meds possible and the water conditioners, temperature...everything. I guess I just have to let time take it's course.....:(sad.
