Hamster won't run in the wheel!

Have a new hamster in the home, and for some reason, she has no interest in running in the wheel. Liked it as a toilet before getting potty trained, but really hasn't gone in since. Never seen this problem before...

Is it a problem? I've read that the wheel is important exercise... Could this cause health problems down the road?

Hello, i had the same kind of problem with my hamster, i found out the wheel was the problem. There are sometimes a range of problems with the wheel that disable your hamster from running on it's wheel.So answer me the following questions.....
Is it a metal/ plastic wheel?
Has it got gaps on the running pert of the wheel?
Is the wheel stiff or rubbing on any thing when it turns?
Is your cage a metal barred one or a plastic tubed one?
Is your wheel a wheel that clips on to the side of cage or a free standing one?
Please tell me this info.

hmm. mine also doesn't like to run the wheel. if the wheel has gaps, put paper through it. could ball-rolling be replacable for whee-wheeling? http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yes if your hammy simpley doesn't like it,a ball will be fine just put her in there a bit longer. Also u could buy a hamster bike like me! There good for exercise!
