Hi, I am thinking about buying 2 Russian Hamsters and housing them in an Aquarium tank. I was wondering if someone could give me some general advice, like the size of the tank and stuff. Also, I've heard that occasionally dwarf hamsters do fight and have to be seperated. Does this happen often or is it quite rare? I'm worried because im spending my savings on buying the hamsters and everything, but i wont have enough money for another cage, if the worse happens, i've really got my heart set on buying to Russian Dwarf hamsters. I've been doing a lot of research on the internet, but i'd like to get some advice from other hamster owners. Ive already owned 2 Syrian Hamsters and they both lived a happy long life, so im not that much of a newbie to it all. Thanks for your time.

for my first two dwarf hamsters, I let them live in a wire cage but an aquarium cage would be good, I guess. The cage should be big enough for a wheel, a food bowl, water bottle and if you want, a hamster toy for them to play. I've always bought dawrf hamsters in pairs, that is if you want them to mate! http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

an aquarium would be fine, and if the hamsters do fight and you think that it would be better to seperate them you could easily build a divider to put into the tank making it into two small cages for them. I have done this in the past and it worked well. I own dwarf hamsters and teddies as well as my rats, gerbils, parakeets, cockatiel, bunny, cats, dogs ect...

I have a Russian Dwarf Hamster and she lives in a 10 gallon aquarium all alone. She is fine alone, but they are happier in groups or pairs. I would think that a 10 gallon aquarium is good for two of them and make sure they are sisters or brothers, or RELATED!! Good luck, hope that helped!

Don't get TWO!! Please don't as my neighbours had two female russian hamsters and they were sisters and they fought so badly that they almost killed each other and had to be separated ;_;
