First, make the dog feel important, pet him and assure him/her that it's still top dog. Then put the cat in one end of the room and the dog in the other see if they get along. DON'T leave the room. Stay put but avoid giving too much attention to the either side. Stand in the middle and watch. (but remain prepaired incase the dog or even cat attacks)

Thats how I did it http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

Dogs tend to get jelous, it needs to feel as though it remains in the "rank" it was before you got the cat, so the cat doesnt seem like a threat.

What if you own the cat first and then get the dog?

xiaomin- animals definitely have feelings too. basically what i did, (but with 2 cats) was put one in one room, and the other in another. depending on how your house is setup, they will eventually sniff under the doors to see who's in there. if they don't, then take it slow, and open the door and supervise a meet and greet with the 2 animals, and let them feel each other out. make them both feel important, and give them lots of individual love as the adjust to the change! http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

That's great news that your problem has solved, xiaomin!

So your cat and dog get along great now?
Are they sleeping together or something similiar?

nope
i have already given up.so, now ,instead of placing both of them in the house,i place my doggie at the backyard and my kitty inside the house.i think that's what i can do.even now they are still figthing and barking,at each other

Hi xiaomin, so sad to know that they aren't getting along well. Hopefully, as time goes by, both will be on good terms.
