Ok i'll be going back home for 2 weeks and wish to take my little CJ with me as i have noone to care for him down her while i'm away. the trip will consist of 2 days of train travel then he'll be at my place for 2 weeks then 2 days of train travel back this will also include a few little car rides.
I was wonderring about the best way to minimize stress and keep his water warm enough for the travelling as its winter here and gets cold even during the day which if i leave his lamp off his water goes under a safe level of temperature in a few hours.
i'll be taking my lamp with me and taking a bottle or 2 of water with me so i can change his water without changing the water source so that will be fine, i also need to find something to put him in that i can seal so water doesn't go everywhere! i was thinking a jar of some kind. my main concern is stress and temperature. please help me!

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping someone else would help you. I think it might cause stress to the betta to be traveling to places with extreame temperatures. Is there any way possible that a friend could watch your betta for you while you are gone?

The best way for travel that I have heard is to Put them in something like a Gladware container that is seal and unsealed easily. Talk to whoever would be in charge and make sure you can take them on the train BEFORE you leave best to do it a couple days before so if you can't take them you can find something else to do with them. After you find you can take them with you wrap the gladware container in a towel or something similar with one of those heat pad things (LFS can usually help you get one) This will keep the water warm although this is not absolutely necessary it helps and the towel will insulate it to help the temperature from swaying too much too fast. While on the train every couple hours open the cover and splash the water a bit to help it oxygenate the water (being a betta this is easier cause they don't need as much oxygen in the water). I think thats basically it. You could pack the rest of his/her belongings with all yours and when you get where your going set it up and viola. What I basically explained to you was how to ship a betta which usually last two days also. Oh I forgot to say though Do Not Feed the betta while on the train he/she will do just fine without the food and it would spoil the water faster. Thats all I can think of right now if you have any questions just ask I'll get back asap.

lol well thats basically what i did though i never asked the train people anything about taking him ...i had him in a bottle (which holds more water than his tank!) with a screwtop lid so i could open it which i did about every 2 hours. ibefore we went on i had his lamp on which i took with me and it gets hot when its on obviously so packed in the same compartment it helped to keep the water from getting too cool too quick and the bag is kinda insulated not to mention the train isn't that cold in itself so that was fine...he was absolutely fine and happy once the journey was over (in between at night i had his lamp on again so he didn't freeze) so he survived that great :)
