I was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can get my hamster's wheel to quit squeeking. I had to switch him to a metal wheel because he got too big for the plastic one that came with the cage(he's a Syrian) and I couldn't find any large plastic wheels. I've been cleaning it regularly and I've tried oiling it with KY Jelly(liquid and gel), butter, vegetable oil, soap, and I don't know what else. I would use WD 40 but I don't want him to somehow ingest it. I'm out of ideas so I was wondering if anyone knows something better to oil with or where I can find a larger plastic wheel. Thanks!

Plastic wheel squeaks lots too. And worse, it get bitten till it doesn't look like a wheel.
I can't tolerate, so i give my hamsters the wheel only at a certain timing. When it is my family sleeping time, the wheel is taken out.
If you are able to take the wheel out of the stand, you can try to use a tape to tape the wheel holder. Hopefully this will help decrease the sound. But i got a strong feeling that your hamster (most hamsters) will bite the type.
Try giving him other toys to play too. Like have a small rope tied to the top of his cage and let him climb the rope. :)
