Has anybody had problems finding insurance companies that will cover your home when you own a pit bull? Increased rates if they do? What company?

i don't own a pit, but my best friend had 2 (one was hers one was her roommates, now she just have the one since they don't live together anymore). They were denied coverage because they owned pitbulls. Mainly because of their reps. They are "known" to be "destructive animals" blah blah blah. So yeah most insurance companies won't cover you for like renters insurance or home owners insurance. There are some out there that don't care. Her's are really well behaved, she just said she has a terrier mix or staffordshire terrier and they didn't know what that was.
who were you denied from? was it state farm?

State Farm covered me at a highly increased rate though.

Just to alert people with Pit Bulls- If you are a breeder, or plan to sell or give a pit bull to someone living in The Tri-Cities (Kenniwick, Pasco, Richland, Washington area to do so is ill advised. There were just enough Pit Bull attacks on people in those cities I believe it was a year ago that the Tri-Cities opted to ban Pit Bulls. Insurance coverage is up for home owners, and licensing, and registering, and the animal must pass a good citizen test to even be allowed in the cities limits.
Because of this people have been irrisponsible and dumbed their pit bulls anywhere and everywhere to keep from obeying the laws, putting these intellegent dogs at risk.
I have no idea when they will if ever lift the ban, but it's better not to even put a pit bull dog or puppy at this kind of risk.
