Is it ever too late to band a cardinal bird? I have one at my home...I've had him/her for let's see...Since Tuesday so that's 4 days now. Wow! Anyway, when I release the bird, I want to know if I ever see him/her again and I want him/her banded. Is it ever too late? I'd really appreciate any advice on care, feeding, and banding. E-mail is Treebeard513@hpdimension.net but I don't check it much so you can also IM me at BlackJackHorsie. Thanks!

P.S. His/her foot is swollen. I don't know what caused it, but I've put Neosporin on it and got my neighbor Ruth over to my house to help. Anyone know anything that could keep the swelling down or relieve the pain?

By the way, I know it's illegal to KEEP a bird. I'm not keeping him/her. She/He's gonna be released when he/she can fly. (It's an orphan, its parents left with its older brother.)

The bird's crop was very full today and he wasn't pooping...But my mom did something nasty involving the area near the bird's tail feathers and he's fine now. Whew...
