I've had my cats for about a year and a half now and they still poop on the floor occationally. Lately, they've been pooping on the floor more often. I clean the litter box everyday. Usually they just poop in a random spot. What should I do to prevent this? My mom is threatening to get rid of the cats if they keep this up. Thanks

hello, have your cats been introduced to a new family member or a move? that could be a reason, unless they've always been doing this. check any stress points and try to make your cats accustomed to them. also, try putitng them into their litter box when you see signs of them about to go to the bathroom, then praise them for doing it. eventually they should come around!

If they were to poop in other places again, take the poop and place it in the cat litter. Hopefully the smell of the poop will guide them to the cat litter.

The first thing you should rule out is any illness that the cats may have, your cats may be trying to tell you something by pooping on the floor. Next you should clean the area that has been pooped on very good; never use something that has amonia in it this will just attracted the cats to that spot even more and will not clean it properly, use something that has a natural enzyme in it that will work. It could be quite a few things but rule out any illness first you never know it could be fatal. Let me know how it went.
