okay, i am not usually a mouse person, so i'm really clueless about this. i recently found a baby mouse sitting next to his two dead parents. i think he is about a week old (tons of fur, and eyes close to opening) so i am wondering what to feed him. i have been usuing warmed milk and water with a bit of sugar, and he seems to like it fine. is this okay or do i really need to go out and buy something? also, i have read everywhere that i am supposed to stimulate him to go to the bathroom. it's not working. what am i doing wrong??

hi Jenny,
to stimulate the wee mouse you have to gently
rub towards the tail of his belly with your finger straight after he has eaten.

what you are feeding is ok but i would suggest cutting out the sugar and changing to LACTOSE REDUCED MILK.As we get into the second week try using leftovers from your plate and mush or liquidise them, this way he'll be getting extra vitamins and nutriants not available in the food he's getting now.
Cereal flakes (the breakfast type) are a good diet with plenty of drinking water, as an alternate meal.

wishing you all the best with your "poor wee timerous beastie..."

Jenny,
I just want to let you know that I am very happy to hear that there is someone like you out there helping out little ones. Not many people would cater to the needs of a poor wild orphaned mousey. Just wanted to say that I heard a little bit of corn syrup was good in the milk mixture when had rearing rodents. I tried it myself when a mother rat of mine lost interest in her litter. It seemed to work very nicely, but I have to admit I did have a bit of help from an old mama rat who semi took in the neglected little ones. Best of luck to you and your tiny baby!
