I just got a dwarf hamster and was wondering if it would be safe to put my dwarf hamster and mouse together in the same cage. My mouse is very tame and friendly, even to other mice, though has had to live alone because the other mice would attack him non-stop. Should I try putting my mouse and hamster together and if so, how should I do it? I know I shouldn't just drop him into the cage, but does anyone have any ideas?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, it would be cute if they'd live happily, but they won't! I tried introducing two female dwarf hamsters, both very young and both really mild tempered, to me at least... They attacked and there was blood ALL OVER!!!! Don't do it, if you haven't been bitten by your hamster yet, wait to you are and see what it feels like, your hamster will do serious damage to the mouse. Let him live alone if the other mice attack him, give him extra attention and be his friend, but don't try to introduce him to the hamster!!!! The two hamsters I tried to introduce were fine with each other even when separated just by a wire mesh, I had no idea there would be a fight until I put them together. PLEASE DON'T DO THIS, they aren't like dogs and cats where they can be good friends sometimes, in the wild (if they would even be together in the wild), they would be competitors for food. Also, if they fight, and your mouse gets all chomped up, what are you going to do? Not many vets will treat mice, and its hard to help a hurt rodent yourself, everything is so small, and it'll be in a state of panic or shock.

This is the most dangerous idea I have heard in a long time.
The hamster will almost certainly kill and eat the poor mouse.
NEVER MIX SPECIES! That includes most species of dwarf hamster.

Okay, I'm not going to try it. Thanks for the input.
It is smarter to ask than to try.
I would never try anything that could be dangerous without asking first. I once trusted a website and my mouse got hurt from it, so now I stick to the experiences of others which I find to be a little more truthful.
