hi i just seperated my oldest litter into boys and girls, put the girls with the mom and the boys with the dad. as soon as i put them in with the dad he started to hump them! im positive they are boys and everything. i dont know what to do so im just keeping the dad alone and the boys in a different cage. is this normal? can i keep them all together?

PS- if theres anyone in the chicago area that wants mice- my female just had a litter of 12.. i didnt mean to breed mice or anything but i think i had the boy in there for a bit too long (i thought it was a girl).. so now i have TONS of little pink babies. If noone wants them Ill keep them.

http://petshub.com/ubb/tongue.gif Don't worry Andrea! The father is just showing his dominance. It's just his way of saying "I'm the boss" My rats do it all the time, especially if there is a new rat, or a young one in the group! http://petshub.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Either that or it's really a GIRL. That happened to me. My mouse (a boy) was trying to mate w/ another "boy" mouse, turns out that "boy" was a GIRL!

hahaha nah i think.. actually i KNOW its a boy.. its kinda obvious now that hes older. The older ones STILL hump the younger ones, but its usually when they want to steal their food.. haha. they dont hurt eachother or anything though. i thought they were, but i guess it is just a dominance thing
