I found a baby robin a few days ago. I named him Wilbur and he now sits quietly in a little box on my lap asleep.

But his right leg, it has some issues going on with it. I recently taught him how to perch on my hand, and he's eating night crawlers like a bottomless pit! But his leg, it seems like it's sprained. I don't think it's broken because he can move his little toes and such, but every time I hold him, his little knee feels so hot. My mom thinks it might be a sprain. His leg sometime trails behind him because he doesn't have a lot of strength in it. So when he gets settled in, I sort of put his leg back under him. I don't think it causes him a lot of pain, because when he sits on it, he goes right to sleep.

I really don't want to take him to our vet because I've raised wild baby birds before and the vet near us has a horrible reputation for taking care of birds.

My mom bought some Gerber baby food and I don't know if he can and/or should eat it.

His right wing isn't moving so well either, but I think that might just be a little sprain also. He's learned to hop around on his good leg, and he's been preening like wild fire. I don't know what age he is, or technically anything about wild birds.

He still has down feathers on his back, and his tail and wing feathers are filling out fine. But there's a ton of that white crusty shelly stuff near the inside of his wings.

He constantly wakes me up at 5:30 every morning, and he has learned to call out for food when he's hungry.

Please help... I don't want to put a splint on his leg, but I don't know if it will heal on its own.... If someone wants a picture of him to help determine his age, please e-mail me at Sweetiepie0098@hotmail.com

Thank you
