Presenting Venus

After agonizing weeks of waiting, I finally got my first Syrian hamster. Although I was originally going to go with Petsmart because they sell only females, I was bad and went with the other local pet store that keeps both genders together... BUT I have a friend who works there and he let me take an extended amount of time to hold and handle each one. I originally thought I was going to get a solid cream long hair, but I decided instead to go with the one with the best personality. She lets me pick her up without squirming and sits calmly in my palm. She has tried to nibble me twice, but I blew in her face, a technique I learned with gerbils.
I have named her Venus de Milo and she is a long hair. She also was quite small compared to the other hamsters, so I hope this means she is young (as in, too young to be preggers). The pics are a bit fuzzy, but they're the best I can do for now.

Aww what a cutie! Fingers crossed she isn't pregnant! I remember when I got Snoopi, I saw another female in the same cage. My dad commented that she looked fat, but now I can't help but think she was probably pregnant. Whew, good think mine wasn't! She sounds like a great hamster, and so tame, assuming you've only had her for a little while.

Is it possible to tame a 5 month old male dwarf hamster if it sounds like he is tamed?

i first got my dwarf at petsmart, her name was tweek an she was awesome. She liked only me which is a characteristic i like to put in my animals, she was awesome but feisty to others... she jumped outta my hand one day an later died a few days later but i found new dwarf hamsters now that almost make me as happy as my hamster Tweek did. I wish you luck with you lil cutie. I love THE WAY SHE LOOKS its so cool
