Hi I am Sammy, I have a 2 year old female chinese dwarf hamster named Jerri . I love her very much ! She is so sweet . But lately she has not been eating well and is losing weight. I don't know what to do I have been giving her anything she wants ( veggis , fruit , seeds, and pellets, chew sticks, cuttle bone , and vary of hammie treats) But she is still losing weight she has a weel and a large cage. I have check her teeth and they are not long she chew on the chew sticks well . What sould I do ?

I don't own any dwarves, but I know that for any sick pet, it's good to do some research, and if you think something is really wrong, immediately take her to the closest vet.

Maybe you should change the brand of food, she might not like it or it may be causing diareah (dunno how to spell it lol), but be sure for it to be a gradual change of the brand, put a little of the new one in the original brand, then put more and more, till you take old brand away. She does not sound like she has something seriously wrong with her, but if she gets REALLY skinny, please stress to the vets that you are really concerned.

A hamster's life span is only two to three years, so it may be she is just getting old. Just do what you can to keep her comfortable. I hope she gets better.

I hope that she will be ok . She is a very sweet hamster . She ate some tonight I think she is feeling beter but I made another appointment with a different vet for tomorrow . Do you think she could be lonely ? I had a nother female Jill but she was 3 years old and she died .

I would double check the fat content of the food you are feeding her, and then compare it to the other brands.

It would be worth knowing if the food she eats is way leaner than average.
