Here is my story...

I have an approximately one year old cat that I need to find a new home for. I rescued her back in January. She was the neighbours cat(just a small kitten). They would leave her outside(in the freezing cold-I live in Canada) and go a way for the weekend. So long and short..I eventually asked them about her and they said oh ya, we were going to find her a new home when we move and they left and went away for the weekend leaving the cat outside again. That was it. Sent the hubby to the pet store..to buy the kittly litter and food. I originally decided to only keep her until I could find her a home(I am allergic). We soon discovered SAVVY(her new name) was hand shy. So we decided to work on that first. Discoverd she had ear mites, so had her treated, had to wait out a heat(then had her spayed) and given her shots. She is getting better, but still isn't cuddly..very skiddish. So now the problem, my allergies are brutal, I am constantly popping allergy tablets. I am planning to try and get pregnant in the next two month's. I don't think I can handle suffering for 9 month's. The other wrench is my 5 year old Golden Retriever has developed skin allergies since the cat came into the house. We are spending hundreds of dollars trying to resolve this new problem.Vet thinks it could be the cat, but, not sure.

So the bottom line is I think the cat has to go. But, I feel so bad. I do love her. And I am worried about her adjusting to a new home. And how do I make sure the new owners..feed her well(she eats eagle pack, keep her inside etc. And will she get over it? Please let me know what you think.

I'm glad you have taken good care of this cat

Other than give the cat to someone else for free, I would say ask for a certain amount of adoption fee. If this person is seriously wants to adopt the cat, they wouldn't mind the adoption fee. Visit this person's home if possible, see if they have any other animal at home, if they have any experience with cat before. One last thing is IF possible, see if you can keep in touch with this person later on so maybe you could visit the kitty in the future.

Or you could ask the local cat rescue, see if they could help you on finding a new home for this kitty. Shelter or rescue will ask for lot of info (work #, job position...) to make sure that person is able to take care of the cat and take it to the vet regularly.
