Hello. I'm pretty new here, and I just discovered that my hamster has babies too. She's always been very aggressive. I've had her for about four months and she's always been that way. There's just no taming her. I'm just hoping that I can tame the babies so I can have one to hold and play with. I was wondering if anyone has any baby taming tips. I'm terrified of being bitten while taming them. Their mother bites really hard. Will the babies bite when I begin to tame them? Will it hurt as bad as the mother's bite? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many threads that have been posted on taming. I am sure you can find them easily on this forum. Your hamster should NOT be biting like that after four months with you.

How could a hamster you had for four months be pregnant?? Hamster gestation is only about 18 days. If you are breeding, you should NOT; there are enough unwanted hamsters in the world who you can rescue.

About babies. . . be very careful as they are FAST, and can jump right out of your hands. Hold them only over something soft in case they fall. I raised a litter of hamsters (the mother was pregnant when I got her at the store) and within a few months I could kiss them on the nose - patience, peace and quiet, letting them wake up on their own, a dark safe box to sleep in, offering treats from my hands, talking to them calmly, etc.

Well, excuse me for wanting to raise some cute little hamster babies of my own. Personally, I don't know anyone else around where I live who has baby hamsters to "Rescue" and these are certainly not unwanted. I am more than capable of taking care of them. I have a cage for each, rather nice cages, might I add, and enough food and treats for all of them. It's rather sad that I ask for advice and all I get is criticism. If there are any people on here who have any "nice" advice, let me know. As for all the other threads on the topic, I've read all of them and none of them answer the questions that I have.

if you want to tame the babies then you should follow these few steps.
1.first put a treat in your hand(i've found a little dab of peanut butter works best) and sticking it in the cage.wait for the hamster to walk up to your hand.once in your hand gently lift the hamster out of the cage.
2.next take the hamster to a quiet room and sit down with him/her.
3.gently stroke his/her back.talk to it and eventualy it will become associated with your voice.do these steps a couple of times(2 or 3)a day for 1 to 2 weeks.a couple of tips for a non-agressive hamster are do not wake it up while its sleeping and don't pick it up from behind because this could lead to bites.
