I've got a doberman who is incredibly hyper. Take her for an hour long walk and she is still jumping out of her skin. Does any one know if giving her human valerian would be harmful? My hubby says she is driving him insane and I love her and don't want him to end up taking her away. She is 3 years old and has had 3 heats in her life time she is continually hungry and can't keep still. Always pacing or running has been wormed gets fed 2 times a day. HELP

It can be dangerous. I would call your vet and have her examined by him and have the vet reccommend what to put her on.
Some human "medicine" is highly dangerous for pets and I wouldnt want to take a chance.
Also maybe enroll her in some obedience class and that may help her settle down some.
Good luck

I suggest spaying. Spaying a dog has so many benifits (including no more heats!), This will help her to be more calm.
Also try obidiance and/or agility classes.
You dog is still pretty young, and being not spayed this can all be a factor in her hyperness.
Please do not feel your dog any "people" med's unless suggested from your vet, alot of herbs/drugs can be harmful to pets, like Onions are poisonis to dogs, but we eat can them.

thanks for the advice. the vet doesn't come here very often thats why she isnt spayed yet and she did go to obediance classes as a pup but she was told not to come back am doing some work with her at home and trying to get some control. I am socialising her as well with other dogs so will try to be calm.
She's a beautiful dog and I love her madly so I get worried when she misbehaves and my husband threatens murder.
Will keep trying to be patient and will book her in straight away.
