Be sure you know what you're going to do with the babies. If you return them to the petstore, they'll probably end up as snake food, so be careful who you give them to.

I have 19 Deer mice and 1 house mouse (Prissy). I have a mother and 3 daughters. the mother is Susy Creamcheese (CC for short) and her daughters Athena, Ghost, and Spirit. Then I have a nother mother Squeek and father Marina Posiden that have had 2 litters in a row. the first of 5 (2 boys and 3 girls) and the second of 8 that haven't been sexed yet. noneof these 2 litters have been named yet because I haven't been able to tell them apart yet. though I think it's about time to name the older 5. Oh yes, CC is the daughter of Squeek and some unknown wild mouse. she was pregnent when she came to me.
If you would like to see pictures of some of the youngest babies, I've got pictures posted on my web site. It's not very fancy as I just slapped them out their and havent cleaned it up yet. some pictures are sidways and stuff. The web site is

Hi I have a rat his name is Max he is albino. I wish I knew how old he is. I got him at a pet store so there is no way to tell how old he is. Does any one know how old you should start training him to come and do other tricks. How do you potty train him in his cage???????

I have two mice, Jeepers and Jax. I just got Jax today because I hope to breed her with Jeepers. I've had a lot of mice before, but a long time ago.

Hello, I currently do not own any mice but I would like to get a pair of fancy mice. But I do have a pair of rats....breezy and brat. They have a dozen babies at the moment. Than there is puppy and kitty my gerbils. I also have two tebbie bear hamster..fuzzy and wuzzy. I also have two dwarf hamster and they have three little tiny babies. Than there is the bunny, my cockatiel, the four parakeets, the four cats and my poodle. I think you can tell I love animals. I am a stay at home mother....of 6 children. If I lived in the country our animal family would be even bigger. I love helping people with any of their animal questions. Besides the animals I have at the moment I have also owned a bull, many horses, a goat, a sheep, chicken, ducks, geese, ferrets and more. I know I am a little animal crazy. I have so many now as I often take in pets from other folks. So many times a parent will allow a child to get a pet not knowing how much care it needs and soon the child loses interest and the animal suffers, so I take them in and either wind up keeping them or finding great homes for them. I think that as pet owners we have a responsibility to our pets. If I can help you with anything or if you would just like to you can email me at angelfire1966@msn.com

I have two domestic mice. King Louie I bought from a petstore that had him offered as a feeder mouse. He is a long haired black mouse and is nearly the size of a teddy bear hamster! Boy, id he grow!
Sundance is a pearl champaigne mouse. She was left on the door step of a vets office in her cage. The vet called a woman in cat rescue that I know to see if she knew anyone who would take mice. I accepted.
Then there are my three house mice. Belgarath is named after the immortal sorcorer in one of David Eddings books because he survived 10-15 minutes in my 20 pound cats mouth with only his tail hanging out. He survived to tell the tail and was put in a tank to recouperate. Then my cats caught Drasnian who is very shy (unlike Belg. who comes to the side of the tank when I tap or speak to him).
Skidaddle is the newest addition. My cats caught him last night and Bel and Dras seem to have adopted him. He is quite the cute little fellow, I'll give him a few days before I am sure he will be ok.
The original plan was to set them loose in the park once I had given them time to recouperate, but they seem so happy in their new home, I am having trouble getting around to that....plus I made the mistake of naming them...LOL!
From the studies I've done, these are house mice, not deer mice or such.
Take care,

My mouse's name is hobo and he's really cute. I got his name from the brand of the cage. Haha. He's an angel! :angel2: He's white with 3 light brown spots... He can be really stinky at times, so I bathe him once every two weeks.

ok to the saved mice in the barn, sorry but it is very hard to raise baby mice, i tried with a rat and had great difficulty. to the person that wants to know about breeding mice. mice are relitively easy to breed, with the right care. you should take great care of the mother, and while she is nursing. making sure she always has acsess to clean food and water. give her some tissue paper to build a nest. supply her with a house to have the babys in that is dark and makes her feel comfortable. seperate her from the male (you dont need to do this but just to be on the sae side it is wise) also put her in a cage by her self, other females and males may eat the babys. if the mother knows she cannot raise so many babys she will cut down her litter, by eating them, dont be to sad it happens. dont breed litter after litter she will eventually die. i give my mice dog biscuits they love them and they are really good for there teeth. wow that was long my email is armyofthemice@hotmail.com if ever you need it.

pokerchip11.. i can't answer cuz i'm not all that up on wild mice and hanta.. though everyone seems to mention that it's not all that common whenever anyone asks here..
but..
you'd probablly have better luck.. (and less confusion..) if you started a new thread (or, better yet, searched the site for recent threads about hanta and wild mice) instead of pulling up a thread that's been dead for years.. people will read the topic and skip over it.. esp when they see how old it is...
good luck.. and, in future.. you should probablly quarentine any new mice (esp wild ones) in tanks seperate from your other mice.. that way if one is sick, or has mites or anything, they won't infect your other mice....

Thanks Booklady for the tip, I put the Deer mouse in a cage with two little albino mice and they are fine for now, i read up and found out that if it did have a virus then u would notice signs of it within a couple days (4) but nothing so far so its looking up.

I also have a bluehealer named Dartanion, a rosehair tarantula named Matika, and a ball Python named Marty. No worries though, The deermouse is way to cute to give up, I've even settled on naming him Roofus
