Hi, I hope I do this correctly; I've never posted to a forum before - my daughter recently purchased a parrotlet - I am wondering if anyone has one of these birds. I have agreed to keep it for a year, with my daughter making regular visits - I am wondering now if that's a good idea. Will the bird bond to me, and not be able to make the transition when my daughter is ready for it?
Also, has anyone cared for both a parakeet and a parrotlet, and could you tell me the pros and cons?

Thanks much - I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now.

I have (and sort of now too) caring for 2 Parakeets. I like to call them Budgies. I have never had Parrotlets, but I like them. It will only bond with you if you play with it, and take it out and do alot of things with it. I don't have a clue about Parrotlets, but for the Parakeet (Budgie) they need to be tamed at a young age, (before 1 year) or else if you try to tame them when they are older it takes longer. If your daughter visits the bird and plays with it and/or tames it, and so do you, I think it will bond with your doughter and you. Jest cleaning the cage and doing everyday things will not make the bird bond with you or make it tame as time goes by.
