I don't know what to do I've asked all the people that I trust if they can look after my hamster Cinder while I'm away for a week but I can't find anyone that can. What should I do? I can't take her with me because where were going it will be to hot for her and there will be 14 hrs of driving involved and I don't think she will be able to handle that stress. Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm really stuck here I'm only going to be gone a week but I have to do something. Please let me know asap. :ashamed:

thats kinda weird how none of your friends can take care of her, they wouldn't even need to clean the cage, just change the water and food once a day. Doesn't seem like to much hassle.
My girlfriend brings her cat to the vet when she goes away, maybe you can bring her there, or there must be some sort of animal shelter around where you live that will take care of your pet for a week.

Couldn't you ask your neighbor to feed your hamster everyday

Since you are going away and can't find anyone my only suggestion for you would be too.
Give your hamster 1 week of food along with doggy biscuits that don't contain garlic or onion and a full week supply of water or just make sure her water bottle is full.
Immediately when you get home, you will need to replace everything and play with her since your extended absence will be very nerve recking.

Well the reason none of my friends can look after her is there all away except for one friend but she has 5 cats(to many) I told her she could just put her in a room where the cats won't be but she doesn't want to take the chance. I'll look go and ask her vet if they would do that for me.
I live in Red Deer Alberta and theres not really that many places to take animals other then cats and dogs.

If you must leave her unattended, please consider supplying her with multiple water bottles. If one clogs or spills out the water, then at least you have a backup.
Also, please remember things like having your Air Conditioning set at an approprite level.
I'm going out of town soon, and none of my friend's have appropriate accomodations for my little critters, but I did have a friend who agreed to come over to my apartment once every three days to check in on them.
Perhaps you can find someone to stop over just once or twice.

Have you aksed all your relitives? Maybe an aunt or cousin?
I leave my critters with my brothers when I go away, or my cousin.

no no no. dont do that. dont leave the hamster by itself for a week. What if the the water bottle all spills? No water for a week? And who knows what can go wrong. Also, its NOT a good idea to play with her if u left her alone for a week. Picture this. The house is quiet for a whole week. Then suddenly someone marches in, takes you away froim your home, carries you around. Talk about getting wet tail.
And also, if you extended absence, haha, she will not be nerve recking. They are solitary creatures. Not animals that where born to be our soul mates. They can care less if they have us there. Hard to believe, but its true

I don't believe that your hamster will truly miss "you", but they might miss the special treats and time in the ball.
As I mentioned before, do provide more than one water bottle, and a ton of food!
It would be nice if you caould find someone to stop over once every three days or so, to make sure no water bottles have leaked and to guarantee that your air conditioner doesn't stop working for some reason.
Also if your little ones get wet-tail or something horrible.. you would want someone to call you or to take them to the vet.
Just make sure that you fully consider everything that could go wrong....
Are you flying or driving? Is it possible for you to take your little sweeties with you?
You can also hire pet-sitters. Just make sure that you check with the Better Business Bureau and guarantee that the employees are bonded.
Good Luck.
