i see all these people saying how good their rabbits are. mine can be a pain. i was told she was a holland lop and very mellow. she runs and hides from everyone, she used to use a liter box okay (now she kicks out all the liter), she is constantly pushing up on the cage to try to get out. she will only eat steamed carrots too. is this normal for a rabbit. she's so cute, but i wish she could be more friendly. we've tried everything to get her to want to be around people, but she won't. she seems very tepermental. if anyone has any suggestions please help me.
thanks,
mj

Sounds like it may be a communication issue. http://www.muridae.com/rabbits/rabbittalk_intro.html is a good rabbit language reference.

i just got a bunny from my sister, and i was wanting to know what they like to play with and what kind of cage or home should i put the bunny in because she is a inside pet. I want her to have alot of space in it, so i am kinda clueless what i should do. Right now i have her in a pet carrier but she dont have alot of room. Any suggestions??

My rabbit acts tha same way as far as ripping her cage appart and digging the litter out of her pan. She also grabs the cage with her teeth and grunts at me in the morning! She's not a mean rabbit, but sometimes she has bad days. I don't call her "Beast" for nothing! anyway, I had her spayed about a week and a half ago hoping that will tack some distructive urge away, it's too soon to tell though. I do know that they are VERY teritorial and don't like there stuff messed with. I think wreaking the place is her way of "making it her own" so to speak as well as a way to release tension after being caged. As far as running away from you, try sitting on the floor when you let her out and talk to her alot when she's in and out of the cage. If your on the floor, she'll be more inclined to come over and check you out, your less scary (remember, Rabbits are the prime food source in the wild and some rabbits have more of that "run for your life" instinct that others.) Talk softly and don't make fast movements that might be construde as a possible attack (in the rabbits mind anyway.)
Give it a shot and let me know if it works.

I realize this is old but i just wanted to tell u that it sounds like your doe is in heat. Do you know how old she is? All of my does go into heat for the first time when they are around 4 to 6 months, for awhile their hormones make them kinda go crazy for awhile but they calm down after they mature a little more, that's why bucks are better for pets usually.
