 Hello i am new. Okay a few weeks ago and I moved into a new house and decided to get myself my very own fat Hamster. so i got it from this pet shop. The other night my housemate was saying ''Your hamster is making the strangest noises'' so i just thought he was weazing. the next day i decided to clean my Fat hamster. I put the hamster and his house in a box and cleaned out the cage. Then I picked the first layor of the bedding of the house and SEVEN LITTLE CREATURES WERE IN THERE. I screamed and nearly died of fright. so I put the hosue and hamster back in the cage and up to now it seems as tho all hamsters are still alive. However I am seriousley worried that Ive not been aware of the pregnancy and that both mother and babies may have suffered the neglect. I have predicted they are about 4 or 5 days old. I just dont know how to approach the whole situation. Someone please help me!!!!

I thought that hampsters eat their babies if left with them for a long period of time?

Im suggesting maybe hand feeding them.....maybe eye dropper with some sort of baby formula for hampsters which could probably be picked up at any pet store...

What?? Hand feeding them even though their mother is still with them?? If you touch the babies, never mind move them it is probable that the mother will destroy her young. I take it that they are all still in a cage, mother and babies? If so, my advice is to leave well alone. You're probably quite lucky that the mum didn't destroy the litter when you disrupted the cage (which isn't at all your fault i know) so i would just say leave them alone and hope for the best. If distrupted, hamsters can eat their young, but if left alone in a calm quiet area, they can raise their babies well! Correct me if i'm wrong anybody but i don't think that hand rearing them when the mother is perfectly o.k. is that good idea?

Bad Idea about feeding them with an Eye dropper when I was in second grade my sister and I found a mother rat and its babies all the babbies died but 2 but when we were taking care of the babies they just weren't being themselfs then they died 10 days later they died because they needed there mothers warmth could it be possible that the hamster was impregnetied by a male hamster in the pet store?

No its not my sister and I tryed feeding wild baby rats and the reason they died is because they needed to be raised by their mummy but there mummy died in a carwreck
