If a hamster is in labor, she may be laying on her side, have her eyes closed, and could be making some odd noises. Also, if she is in labor, you will see her having contractions.

(She could also be breathing heavily)

I have been through 3 pregnacies with hamsters. All of mine have had their babies at night. But, I would think whenever they come, they come?

Is she having contractions yet? If she is, then the babies are coming soon. If she isn't, then you have some time to wait.

I would say within the next 1-4 hours, your hamster should have the babies.

Once the contractions get longer, and she is breathing heavier, then the babies will be right around the corner.

In all 3 of my hamster pregancies, I never saw a drop of blood on her shavings. That could just be my personal experience though.

I have never seen it before, but that is my personal experience. It could differ between other people, and it could differ between the hamster breed.

You could probably create a new breed, but I would be 100% against it. I do not think anyone would be stupid enougn to mix hamster breeds, in hopes of creating a new breed.

So its not a good idea to have the male in with the mom when the pups arrive?
