Ok, first I'm kinda mad that Petsmart lied to me. But is there any possible way that you can train a hamster not to fight? I recent got two Russian dwarf hamsters. (unbearablly cute) One's a baby and one's I think an adult. But the little one always wants to fight and kicks the older one's butt.

My dad says return one, and mom says they're just playing, but they squeak and really get hurt. I want to put them in seperate cages, but mom's right, it's better they try to learn to get along. Petsmart says if they grow up together, they won't fight. And they never fight in the cages the store keep 'em in anyway. So is there anyway to help them get along faster?

If they are fighting now, then I would put them in separate cages. There is a difference from fighting and playing. If they are playing, they will just hit each other with their paw's. If you see them using teeth, and getting really rough, then I would say they are fighting.

You could always give them another day or so, and see if they continue to fight. Make sure to monitor them closely, as if they are fighting, they could severely hurt each other, or kill their cagemate.

Something else that might work is to keep them in separate cages for now, but every day, take both out, and put them in a box. A box will serve as a neutral territory. If they begin to get along in the box, then you can try putting one hamster in the other's cage.

Yes I was thinking of that, but then my mom yelled at me for wanted to get two seperate cages. -.-. The box idea might work. Now they're sort of getting along, they'll only fight of one gets in the other's way or something. But ya know, it's two balls of fur, so I can't tell what they use. But they flurry up and go wild around the cage, and the old hamster usually lies on his back after words, and I freak, but he's still alive. And no blood, thank god. I stop it before it gets to that. My sister kept htem in her room last night, and she said she heard them fight, but there were no traces of blood this morning. So they might just be roughhousing, but it makes me uneasy -.-

Ah, it's all better now. Occasionally they'll roughouse, but I think they get along in general. I mean the baby always crawls up on top of the big one while he's sleeping and sleeps on him, so I think they're ok now ^_^;;. But htanks for the advice all!

I would still monitor them closely, to make sure no big fights break out. Good Luck!
