Hello,

I am new to this list. I own a pot belly pig that is about 3 years old. She has started losing her hair. :( At first it was just a little bit, but now she has lost most of her hair on her body! She lives outside, but she has shelter. Is their anything I can/should do about this?
Thanks so much in advance!!
Sophie

Wondering where you are located?, is it really hot outside, does she have a mud hole to wallow in?. When "Lola" started losing her hair(we're in SC) we gave her Ivermectin(a liquid wormer) also gave her some Garlic pieces(cloves) and childrens Benydryl. She cleared up within a short period of time and is like her big ole piggy self now. E-maol me at thorngirl@sc.rr.com with any time if you have questions or need help with anything.

okay guys!! don't fret over your piggy losing its hair, its completely normal and does not need to be treated. Pigs tend to lose their coat starting at around 2 years old, but it does grow back every time! It can happen in the summer or in the winter, and is just part of being a pig. It is not a sign of them being unhealthy, and all pig breeders will tell you that it is normal.
