My 4 year old cat Tc {typical cat} has become extremely vocal lately. She thinks everytime I go to the kitchen I should open her another can of wet food. She refuses her dry food altogether, and the wet food isn't good for her.

The problem is, if I don't give her the wet food, she gets really skinny. Always has. I tried feeding her really good dry food, but if it isn't the cheapest stuff there is she won't touch it.

Her teeth are fine, and she has just been wormed very recently, so any suggestions on why she is so vocal and won't eat dry food.

Thanks to All.

Hello Nightmare,

It sounds like TC is changing her appetite for her dry food. Have you tried other brands of dry pellets?

TC really knows what brand is good, since she wouldn't touch the cheapest stuffs. http://petshub.com/ubb/wink.gif

Let us know how's TC getting on soon.

Thanks for the Reply Garfeild. My daugter brought some of that really high vitamins and proteins food from the vet, and she turned her nose up to it. She isn't eating anything that she used to eat, and get this, the only can food she will eat is shredded.
She absolutely won't touch table food.

She is driving me crazy.

Hello Nightmare,

Has TC always been this fussy about her food?
Does TC often take cat's can food?

I am wondering if she is not feeling well lately? Because, bad appetite indicates she could be not feeling good.

Also, she is vocal... hum, is she needy? http://petshub.com/ubb/wink.gif

TCs always had to have the canned food or she gets really skinny. It was supposed to supplement the dry food. She has never eaten the expensive dry, it has to be the cheapest or she turns her nose up. And yes she is soooooooo needy. Very affectionate.

Brown and I are in the Chat Room, come join us.

try putting the wet food at the bottom or mixed with dry food that way she might eat the dry food

Some kitties prefer certain foods based with certain ingrediants. Try giving TC food that is chicken based, beef based, or lam and rice. See which one TC likes better. Also mix the wet food with the dry and start to cut back on the wet food so all you will have left is the dry. I have tried many kinds of dry food and I found that my cats like Science Diet over Iams and refuse to eat the supermarket food. So, look at the packages to see what the dry food is based on. Maybe go to the pet stores and get a sample bag of each. Petsmart has them sometimes.

Hello Nightmare!

Dry food is usually not as tasty and appetising to cats like canned foods. Most cats don't eat them at first. You have to put a little amount of dry food in his/her favorite canned food, and by time put more dry food and less canned food, and this way he will get used to it, and there will be a time when you can give him only dry ones.
