So, it's a rather long story, but basically I have these two gerbils that I'm keeping for a friend and I've only had them about 2 weeks... and they both have wounds that need medication. Obviously these guys don't trust me yet. I can pick them up and they don't bite hard, but they nip sometimes and they hate it when I try to keep them still. Yes, this is normal, but it's creating a huge problem in getting the medication on them!
I've tried giving them treats, I've tried keeping them out for a long time to wear them out, I've tried holding them and having someone else put the antibiotic drops on them. No matter what I do, it always seems to take forever because they hate it! Plus, since it's a liquid, I have to keep them from licking themselves or rubbing on anything until it dries... rar!! Anybody have any suggestions? I feel so bad because I know they must hate me, since they didn't even get a chance to know me and I'm "torturing" them... *sigh* It's sad but I'm kind of anxious for the month to be over so my friend can deal with this!
