Hey, wazzup people. I have an important question to ask. But I'll give you the whole story first to help you understand and know I'm not stupid.
Recently my family and I had a stray cat adopt us. It is the cutest and nicest cat ever. So my mom decided it would be very important to get it shots and spayed if needed. The appointment was this morning but just before it I got scratched while playing with her and it bled. I read up on rabies and learned rabies is spread by saliva. So only if it bites you or licks a cut on you. Plus the vet said she was very healthy. If you know of any other disease I could get from a scratch please tell me. I don't think I could have gotten rabies or anything but I don't know if there is anything else for me to worry about. Thankx

I don't know how common rabies is in the USA but in Europe it's very rare... almost completely wiped out in fact. Rabies affects the mind of animals (and humans) so will become aggressive and vicious and attack usually by biting and thus spreading the disease. So, unless an animal attacks you viciously it's unlikely to have rabies (although it does have a long incubation period so you can never be too careful if there have been cases of rabies where you live.)

I think an anti tetanus is the thing you would be advised to have. I had one when a cat scratched me badly all down my legs (I picked up one of her kittens!!) I think they last for about 10 years though so check if you had one before going to get another.
