My Poot rocks.

We have pet mice and every other night we take 'em out and play with them and Poot just sits there, curious. He just sniffs and stares. Tonight he got close to batting one of the mice, but a light tap on the nose and he was 'sorry' and laid right down against my leg and played lovey-dovey 'I'm sorry, Daddy' with me and kept sniffing the mouse. It was so freaky and endearing at the same time. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

On the other hand, our other cat -- The Kitten -- needs to be kept away/out of the room when we have the mice out. She's crazy...the mice would be catfood. But not Poot.

Recently, a housemouse that I'd caught unexpectedly died on us and Poot was miserable for a whole two days or so. He just lay on the bed, lookin' sad. We never picked up this house mouse or anything, but we did watch and feed her and cared for her et al (we have no idea why she died....), but Poot knew she was there (she, Agnes Mouse, was our second pet, so he knew that she was his sister). It was really sad to watch him pout.

He's almost 3 now, but he has the countenance of an old, wise cat. He friggin' rocks...just wanted to share that with all of you. http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

That's sad. But it's cool that you took care of the mouse and that your cat wouldn't kill it. I have an outdoor cat that just adopted me a few weeks ago and recently brought me a present. A baby rabbit. It was so sad. I heard it screaming so I saved it and let it die peacefully in a shoebox. Having a cat that doesn't eat mice must be wonderful. I am currently trying to get her to wear a collar with a bell on it but she doesn't like it one bit. Good luck with your mice & cats.
