I bought three hermit crabs about three and a half weeks ago. I have a heating pad, food, water, things to climb and places to hide, sand and pebals. One of my hermits started to slow down and drink a lot. Then he/she just stopped moving, it was still alive but it just didn't walk around, i was told by a lot of people and from websites that it meant it was molting. It was alive yesterday but today it started to smell so im assuming its dead. the first thing id like to know is if im doing anything wrong so my other two hermits dont die also. But my other question is this: im leaving the possible dead hermit crab in the cage with the other two until my mom comes home and says that its for sure dead. Am i putting the other two living hermit crabs in danger by leaving a possible dead one in the same cage with them?

Molting crabs do have an oder.
The death smell is an overpowering rotten fish smell that if you smell it you will know for sure the creature is dead.

I would suggest you carefully move this crab to an isolation tank. If you don't have an isolation tank make a makeshift one out of a Rubber maid container. fill up your Iso with about 1/4 moist sand. Make sure it's humid and warm and dark.
If you can't make an Iso you need to isolate your crab in some way. Divide the tank with glass or a plastic sheet the hermit crabs can't climb over. If your crab is ill or molting the others may harm it.
