Hi, well for my future cats I have decided to get the following for a healthy long life. If you have any concerns let me know. Any other suggestions and details about items will be appreciated.

- Litter pan
- Clumping litter
- Scratching post (perhaps make it myself)
- Soft claws (iffy about this one)
- Kitten nail trimmers
- Iams food
- Automatic food bowl (only $10!!)
- Water bowl
- Kitty harness
- Of course the toys

Am I forgetting anything? Im just bored and like to read my thread. Hope lots of you reply!

I don't trim my kittens claws. we got them caped, here's what they do: Polyurethane nail capping is now offered by many veterinary hospitals, including The Animal Medical Center. Polyurethane caps are fitted over the cat's nails and protect furniture and other surfaces. Caps can be periodically replaced by the owner.

and it doesn't hurt them either, our destuctive cats now have their nails capped, I think it's less crule, and if it's gonna be an out door kittie, don't do ANYTHING to the claws, it's one of their only defences, like if a cat chalenges him/her, they will need their claws.

OH YES! and a nice comfy bed for them to curl up in. They like that alot. (or at least mine do and the knead and knead and knead the bed while purring like crazy) it looks like they're drugged. LOL :D

I called Petland nearest us and they said they do not sell them.

Taizman the caps you use where did you get them from? Im thinking of ordering them off the net will that be a good idea? It costs $26.70 is that a good price for how many.. :fishing:

HA! HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!!! I just imagined two kitties meeting up on the street and getting snarly and squaring off and both of them suddenly bare their shiny, colorful plastic nails. Watch out! HAAAAAA!!! It was all I could do not to laugh out loud. Stay out of the way of those two!

Nix the Iams food

DO the nail trimming, use the soft claws only if you have to.

Nix the auto feeder. Only kittens need to be free fed. Cats need two - 4 meals a day for a healthy life style or they will eat themselfs fat when board. It's easier to prevent the weight then take it off on a cat.

Make sure bowls are not plastic. Stainless steal or ceramic is best.

Catnip- a must have.

Thank you for the links..

For the first couple of days my must have is a feeder, a bowl, litter pan, cat litter, IAMS food.

I will probably purchase this on Saturday. Perhaps the next day with my birthday money I will get a bed, scratching post and toys.

I just thought I should point out that "nix" means "no", "don't", "never", "not", etc. I thought that might have been missed.
